How does MailHistory email archiving work?

MailHistory connects to your company's existing mailboxes in Microsoft 365, Google Workspace or any IMAP server and copies every email and attachment into a secure, searchable archive. The archive syncs automatically, and all data is stored on servers in Norway.

What happens to the emails when an employee leaves?

The emails stay in the archive even if the mailbox is deleted. You can cancel the Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace licence for former employees and still search, read and download all of their correspondence.

Which email providers are supported?

Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online), Google Workspace (Gmail) and any email server that supports IMAP, including most web hosts and on-premises Exchange with IMAP enabled.

Where is the data stored, and is it GDPR compliant?

All emails and attachments are stored on servers in Norway. You own your data, and access is protected with two-factor login, IP and country restrictions and a security log of every sign-in. All traffic is encrypted with TLS.

Can I search all archived emails?

Yes. Search subject, body, sender and recipient across every mailbox, filter by date, folder and attachments, and download emails as PDF or original .eml files.

What is the difference between an email archive and Microsoft 365 backup?

Microsoft and Google protect their own infrastructure, but not against users deleting email, accounts being removed or licences being cancelled. MailHistory is a separate archive outside your email system, so you have an independent copy that you control.
